Strategic Partnerships with PERPEKINDO -Farmer Associations: BUILDING STRENGHT FROM THE GRASSROOTS
Roemah Kelapa Indonesia (RoeKI), under the leadership of Chairman Galih, has been actively fostering close collaboration with key industry organizations, notably the Indonesian Coconut Farmers Association (Perpekindo). Galih’s longstanding friendship with Muhaimin Tallo, Chairman of Perpekindo, has laid a strong foundation for partnership, culminating in the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RoeKI and Perpekindo. This alliance emphasizes the critical importance of engaging directly with coconut farmers—the grassroots backbone of the coconut supply chain. By working hand-in-hand with Perpekindo, RoeKI ensures that upstream activities receive robust support, from improved farming techniques to better market access and sustainable livelihood programs.
The Indonesian Coconut Farmers Association (Perpekindo) stands as one of the largest platforms representing coconut growers nationwide, and maintains active chapters across numerous provinces, evidenced by its engagement in regions such as:
Gorontalo: With about 73,000 hectares of registered coconut plantations—of which nearly 48,000 hectares are productive—Perpekindo plays a critical role in supporting replanting efforts and increasing productivity.
Indragiri Hilir (Riau): Here, Perpekindo collaborates closely with local government and investors to rehabilitate over 100,000 hectares of damaged coconut land. The partnership aims to deliver fair pricing and job creation through local processing facilities.
South Sumatra: Perpekindo promotes the establishment of UPPK (Processing & Marketing Units) to stabilize prices and increase downstream processing. This is vital in provinces where price fluctuations significantly affect farmer income.
Further provincial activism—such as in Jambi—demonstrates Perpekindo’s nationwide presence, where it serves as a vocal advocate in trade policy discussions that directly impact growers
